Assistive Technology Assessments

Assistive technology such as wheelchairs, walkers, and canes are a crucial part of disability care as they can be the deciding factor in one’s ability to live independently.

This is why securing adequate NDIS funding for assistive devices—in as timely a manner as possible—is so important.

An Assistive Technology (AT) assessment can help facilitate your NDIS application by providing evidence, backed by a qualified assessor, of your funding needs.

What happens during an Assistive Technology (AT) assessment?

We’ll start with a warm, one-on-one consultation to get to know you — your abilities, challenges, and what a “good day” looks like for you. From there, your physiotherapist will:

  • Assess your mobility, balance, and functional needs

  • Observe how you move around your home or usual environment

  • Identify equipment or modifications that could make daily life safer and more comfortable

  • Prepare a detailed report and recommendations for your NDIS plan

Assistive Technology assessments in the comfort of your home

There’s no better place to understand your needs than your own home.

Our physiotherapists visit you where you live, so we can see how you move through your daily routines — getting out of bed, using the bathroom, preparing meals, or relaxing in your favourite spot.

This allows us to identify practical ways to make your environment safer and easier to navigate, and to recommend equipment or modifications that fit seamlessly into your lifestyle.
